Did you ever grow up feeling like you had to act and talk in a certain way to be accepted by others? If so, you're not alone. Social expectations provide us with the order within our lives by regulating behavior patterns so everyone can predict what will happen next. My thought is that we may finally find true happiness and freedom.
Gordon Lyde is the Program Manager for the Waterbury Reentry Welcome Center, where they help men and women transition from prison to a life after prison. He is a member of the city of Torrington’s Cultural Diversity Counsel and has dedicated his life to being of service to those in need and suffering from substance abuse and mental health. Gordon continues to further his education and is currently Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Gordon stopped by the podcast to gives us some insight on the importance of addressing social norms and how to break those that hinder us from being the best version of ourselves.
