Healing Before Dating
One thing for sure, two things for certain: Heartbreak sucks, period. Especially if you invested everything into the relationship, certain heartbreaks feel catastrophic. To that end, I conclude that love is a gamble and depending on how much you wagered on a particular person, some losses are bound to hurt more than others. Regardless, nobody gets into a relationship expecting it to not work out. Nevertheless, many of us find ourselves in a never-ending pattern of relationships that never materialize to anything substantial. Why is that? Have you ever considered that you NEVER took the time to HEAL from previous relationships before moving on to the next? It sounds hard to believe but you can actually learn a lot from failed relationships. In the aftermath of broken relationships as we feel pummeled by betrayal, abandonment and broken promises, or conversely, drowned in the guilt and shame of cruelty and selfishness, our relationships feel like anything but teachers. Here is the thing, our suffering in relationships can only become our teacher if we are willing to get beyond the storyline of our broken heart and recognize that there is a learning opportunity for growth. Our brother, Drew Holmes, blessed the podcast with his stance on the importance of healing before dating. He gets real about the importance of making sure that you’re ready to jump back out on the dating scene and what happens if you do prematurely. Bottom line, the reward for taking the time to heal is that you can potentially find true happiness. If we walk around never fully healed from past relationships, you run the risk of losing out on the one person you’re truly meant to be with.
