Are They The One?!

Destined By Design

Ah, “The One”. What does that even mean? And more importantly, how do you know if you’ve found it? Everyone will have their own definition but generally, "The One" refers to a partner with whom you want to be with for the long haul. I know, HUGE oversimplification and doesn’t begin to explain how hard it is to find someone that perfectly matches with who you truly are as a person. Now, I’m willing to bet that we’ve all (at one time or another) believed that we had found that someone, but only to be let down when that individual didn’t live up to our expectations. The good news is that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. In fact, there’s nothing wrong with any of those other people either. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own definition of what the perfect person is/does, that we forget that they are humans too and will likely fall short of our expectations. And let’s just say that you get lucky and do find that “perfect” person, odds are that they too will change in some way, shape, form, or fashion. People inherently change over time and it’s up to each person in the relationship to adjust to those changes. Sure, we may not like the idea of change, but it’s called COMPROMISE! Of course, this is all assuming that we all are mature individuals that are willing to be open-minded and wanting to make the relationships work, which is the precursor to eventually finding “The One”.

Haha! I know, easier said than done! Luckily, there are great books out there that I have found to be extremely helpful. Here are the two that we discuss in the episode:

Dr. Willard F. Harley’s book: His Needs, Her Needs
Tony Gaskins Jr.’s book: Make it Work

Remember, relationships take time and hard work. Not every day will be perfect, but when you’ve truly found “The One”, every day will be worth it when you get to end the day with the person you were Destined By Design to be with.

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION
